Description
The glacier spectacle Hannibal transports Carthage to the wildest mountains in Tyrol. A real-life crossing of the Alps using contemporary means, a performance by over 500 participants on the Rettenbach glacier at 3,000 meters above sea level. Sometimes silent, sometimes thundering, a precise choreography of dancers and avalanches, snow cats, base jumpers, airplanes, helicopters and Skidoos, paragliders and skiers spreads across the glacier.
Since its premiere in 2001, the play has been performed in front of more than 80,000 spectators in over 40 performances and dress rehearsals. Each realization of this spatially largest contemporary performance in the world had its own weather and changing actors. The glacier is constantly changing. In its slow flowing transformation it is the resting pulse of the overall choreography. A narrative theatre of movement in a six cubic kilometers large natural area of the Rettenbach glacier in the Ötzal mountains
